NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student Athlete

VolleyFamilies - Please see the below link for the NCAA Guide for the College Bound Student Athlete.  Thank you to NCSA Athletic Recruiting for the link!

The Guide has a tremendous amount of general information and statistics about NCAA Athletics, along with the information you need to be taking the proper steps to ensure NCAA Initial Academic Eligibility.

It is important to know, that VolleyFamilies need to take responsibility for this information.  Your High School counselor may not know the newest academic core classes - Your Club coach may not be aware of the recruiting calendars - Your High School coach may not know which division offers what type of scholarship amounts.

  1. I can't find the answer to this question. How does taking college classes while in high school effect a kids NCAA eligibility (if at all). Kids in the gifted program here can begin taking college classes through a local community college beginning in 9th grade. Some kids have as much as three semesters completed by high school graduation. This is paid for by the high school and a fantastic way to complete core classes and finish college faster, and cheaper. Do these classes impact eligibility in any way?

    1. The dual credit classes (college + high school), is a best answered by the schools in which the Prospect is being recruiting by - Each school will determine what classes are transferrable into their collegiate curriculum, and then how that affects continuing eligibility. There will be initial eligibility concerns also, but these are answered by the NCAA Eligibility Center, which is the process your PSA will go through before becoming certified as eligible.
