NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship: UCLA vs. Illinois Saturday on ESPN2
The NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship is set for Saturday (8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2) between the UCLA Bruins and the Fighting Illini of Illinois. The Bruins, who haven’t played in the title game since 1994, downed the Florida State Seminoles 3-0 last night en route to the championship. The Illini, who will make their first appearance in the title game, made it to the championship by winning (3-2) one of the longest match point rallies in recent memory. Illinois and six-time national champion USC battled for more than two hours in their semifinal, ending it on a rally that saw the ball cross the net more than 20 times. Video of the match point has been airing on SportsCenter throughout the day and images are available. Beth Mowins and three-time Olympic gold medalist Karch Kiraly will call the action live from San Antonio.
