The USA Women's Soccer players have sued for equal pay and treatment from USA Soccer - Good for them. According to the article in ESPN, Women's Soccer generates more income for USA Soccer than men's but the players are no where near the pay level of the mens.

Equal treatment for female athletes will only be achieved as a result of legal action; to rely upon the benevolent nature of those in power to award equity is not realistic. One of the reasons that collegiate women's basketball enjoys support approaching collegiate men's basketball is they used the legal process.
Congratulations to the women's soccer players for having the courage to legally fight for equity!
